Soon will every good game need internet activation?

By good i mean , highly anctipated like cod 6, alien or bioshock 3I mean the only game i can think of that doesnt have it is call of duty. I have to get my pc over to my friends house every time i want to install a internet activated game and mean while the game is being cracked all over the world.Im looking towards getting a consle now since nearly every game has it, well that and my pc needs aupgradeSoon will every good game need internet activation?
Huh? nothing wrong with internet activation... enjoy wasting money on consoles and spending more ahahaha in the long run pc gaming is way cheaper and better quality. But meh do what you like and think what you like. Doesnt change my life one bit. Bye.Soon will every good game need internet activation?
Well, as long as I still can network without 16 different cd keys I'm happy.
For the most part, DRM, particularly online activation, has never really bothered me. I mean, companies have been using online activation for operating systems and software programs for years. It was only a matter of time before they began to effectively cross over to games. It's just like with CD-Keys. Microsoft was using CD-Keys for it's products years before anyone else really started to use it.

but its basically saying *%26^% you to pc gamers without internet or fast intenet, i mean it basically forces you to download a 50mb patch and then jump through personal info and other loops just to play a game you already paid for and then theres the hidden rootkits and who knows what that gets installed [QUOTE=''Dr_Brocoli'']Huh? nothing wrong with internet activation... enjoy wasting money on consoles and spending more ahahaha in the long run pc gaming is way cheaper and better quality. I don't think you're allowed being called a pc gamer if you're on 56k
What do you mean 'soon'.Hasn't it already happened.
I like how steam works.I have mixed opinions about other forms of internet activation though.
I'm in your camp jamesee, I by far prefer and try to support those titles when feasible that don't use activation-based DRM. Although, as a digital-distribution service and the advantages that it brings (I still prefer buying retail though), I don't think Steam's inherent form of DRM isn't ''bad'' at all, it's a good alternative. At any rate, just fyi:
Ubisoft has released a few titles recently completely DRM-free (Prince of Persia, Endwar, Tom Clancy's HAWX). New and upcoming titles from Aspyr Media will be DRM-free, at least in North America (Men of War, Cryostasis, Necrovision, Death Track: Resurrection, 4X4 Hummer). It was recently revealed that EA is going to release The Sims 3 without activations and only with a disc-check. PC games don't get much ''bigger'' than The Sims LOL. It remains to be seen the direction EA takes with other games, but this reversal is at least quite inspiring. There are many others that are only using a disc-check (Call of Duty titles, Fallout 3, The Dark Eye: Drakensang, etc, etc)
or are DRM-free (Demigod, Braid, World of Goo, anything from Gog.com, etc, etc) as well.Do what you need to do though bud, if console games for now are delivered and controlled in a manner you find more agreeable, don't hesitate to play your games there. If you still want to play games on the PC, just try to be diligent in your research, stay informed, and definitely support the titles you find agreeable when possible. There's still plenty to enjoy on the PC IMO! ;)
If it does then looks like I will be saving a lot of money.
I hope not every game.

Some games might already be using the button(s) it is selected to take pictures with. That has happened to me, so i changed the screenshot button to F3 and it works with most games. Go to options and under CHAT, select the SCREENSHOT KEY BINDING,and change it to what ever you want (something that Bioshock doesnt use as a key to play.. try a few if needed)Hope that helps!
thanks ill try that
takeiteasy is a bioshock guy...
Try a diffrent hotkey.
Sometimes with certain skins, I've had problems taking screenshots. So you might want to try reverting back to the default skin and try it.
i think it was just the game because, just a while ago i was taking screenshots %26 recordin videos of oblivion. but for some reason i cant in bioshock. but wtv.:? ( i have the defualt skin by the way)

Installing Oblivion on Vista - HELP!

Hello.  I need some help installing Oblivion on Windows Vista.  The first time I tried it, it came up with an error while preparing the install wizard thing, then I turned my firewall off, and it still came up with the same error.Any suggestions?Installing Oblivion on Vista - HELP!
Installing Oblivion has nothing to do with your firewall or internet connection.  ;) What was the error message?  What did it say? Installing Oblivion on Vista - HELP!

Still can%26#39;t figure it out.  Sorry for the impatience/quick bump, but I%26#39;m really eager to play this game :D
Two suggestions, in this order:1) Do a search for something like, ''Oblivion Vista Install Problem'' and see what comes up. 2) go to the Oblivion specific boards on this website and post there.  Mebbe they can help you.
Sounds like a directx problem, Go here,http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?xinput1_3
Did that work? I am having the same problem and i am running win xp.
What is your specs? Maybe the video card is not good enough.
I'd update your DirectX version and make sure your disc isn't damaged. I don't think your videocard has anything to do with it because I've never heard of a videocard having to do with an installation.

The solution is to rename or delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional, reboot, and retry the install.

Jumpgate Evolution

As many MMOs as I've played in the past, Jumpgate looks like it's going to be a hell of a good time. I just hope it doesn't drop off like Earth %26 Beyond did a while back. We sure could use more flight-sims too.http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-4157-Phoenix-Video-Game-Examiner~y2009m4d11-Jumpgate-Evolution-is-what-MMOs-need

  • Romance RPG Games?

    Hi

Me and my girlfriend have just played Vampire The Bloodlines Masquerade, and we thought, to be frank, it rocked. We were wondering if there was any games similar to it, but, as she's screaming in my ear right now, with more ROMANCE!!!!111121212111

She's looking for something like it anyways, with romance. Could you guys recommend any good games for the pc that has elements such as being a vampire, romance and the ability to play as a woman (STOP SCREAMING WOMAN).

Help would be appreciated as my fail google searches return nothing.

    Thanks. :)Romance RPG Games?
Try Mass Effect. There is also romance in Baldur's Gate II.Romance RPG Games?
mass effect, kotor, nwn2 and witcher all have varying degrees of it, but honestly..., no games have any real romanceits just kinda on the sideif you're looking for romance in videogames you're looking in the wrong place
Mass Effect and The Witcher both feature... interpretations of romance.

Most romance in computer games is pretty juvenile. I can't think of any games that feature genuinely great romances.
Humm... Rise of the Argonauts has a romantic plotline, but the game isn't that good, so I hear.
Thank you for the help guys. It's not really got my girlfriend off my back, but I'm sure she believes me when I said there was few games with romance in it.

    Thanks again! :)
Try The Witcher,Final Fantasy7 or The Last Remnant bud!Thats awesome your lady plays rpgs with ya ;)
The best romances are in the final fantasy series. Tell her to play ff7 or ff8. I'm sure she'd love them.:DI did, and few games out there have ever reached the emotional content and romance of the ff series.
Perhaps The Sims 2? Yeah...its not really an rpg but females do tend to like the game. Heck...I like the game too(mainly in the construction side), I'll admit that. You got your romance side and some stats you can upgrade such as speech or fitness (so its somewhat like an rpg). The Sims 3 is coming out soon, but you can pick up part 2 for a real cheap price. I got my copy along with the nightlife expansion for $5.
^and i'm pretty sure nightlife lets you be a vampire.
speaking of romance in CRPG, no game comes close to Baldur's Gate 2, and its various NPC and ramance mods. but I guess this kind of 2d, texty antique should just be forgotten completely.
    Thanks people. :)

My girlfriend knows about the sims 2. KNOWS THE SIMS 2. She has every Sims game, 1 and 2, a likely to continue the tradtion onto the Sims 3. :(

I will deffos check these suggestions out and thanks again! :D
all the H-stuff from japan oh wait that's not what u wanted oh well :P
The latest Prince of Persia game. Also Prince of Persia the Sands of Time.Oops, sorry I just realized you said RPG. Anyway, if your interested in any type games with some romances, PoP has it.
    LEISURE SUIT LARRY

A different ''kind'' of romance though.... :)

The relationship between Minsc and Boo had me in tears, anyways.

I remember....but u mean Boo the Mouse? wasn't it Bubu?

Anyway...BG I believe even had a side quest that you could marry someone and buy your own castle.... I never did that cause I was EVIL EVIL EVIL

Also...I see ur a Witcher Fan.

To tell you the truth...I installed Witcher 3 times and uninstalled cause I could not get into it....mostly cause of the controls.

I gave it 1 more go a few weeks back...and I'm into it now, mainly cause I'm using the 3rd person camera up close behind Geraldt.
Mass Effect is a great example. The romance story arc is really the only part of the game that interested me, and the rest of the game was an anti-climax in comparison (no pun intended :D )
Lol, the relationship between Minsc and Boo, ''yeh that was epic romance'' between a big dumb nut and a hamster.

Romantic RPGs on PC?...LOL! I don't think there has ever been one like that, the sims and leisure suit larry are the closest things. Lol, and they are definitely not RPGs.

Mass effect did have a romantic scene in it but it was crap, the Witcher has love scenes but I would hardly call them romantic its more yeh door mat lust, you talk to them and they wanna spend the night together. Lol, Seriously PC games don't have that much romance in them or more the quality of the romance sucks to be exact.

But yeh you might as well go with the Witcher if any of those games. But check it on Youtube or watch some trailers before you buy it though, just so you know what your buying.
